Do You Ever Get Weary?
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get weary. We hear so many problems from people all over the world and it seems to never let up. Most times, people are quick to call with the problems but so slow to let us know when the Lord answers. Isn’t that how it happened with Jesus? Why should we expect anything different? He had one out of ten who came back to thank Him. The Word tells us about getting weary. “For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls (Hebrews 12:3).” Then Galatians 6:9, 10 tells us “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
As I pondered this subject about weariness, I wondered, “Did God ever get weary?” (Did you ever get surprised at how quick God is to answer your questions?) I was reading Jeremiah, turned the page and there was my answer! “I am weary of relenting (Jeremiah 15:6).” God does get weary!! Weary of us and our ways, yet He loves us enough that He relents (dictionary says softens in temper – becoming more gentle and compassionate) even though we turn from Him and His ways, over and over again. His ways are not hard, but the in our mind we believe ‘it’s too hard’ when really it’s easier to obey and be blessed than to live with the consequence of disobedience. Let’s take our direction from God our Father. Let us relent (soften) more toward each other (and I’m speaking to me, also). When we get too weary, we tend to try to protect ourselves. I say ‘don’t bother me.’ We all need space to breathe and we can do that by getting alone with the Lord; take a deep breath, praise Him and thank Him…breathe in the fresh breath of the Holy Spirit and breathe out the all of the thoughts that clutter our minds! He is such an awesome God and Father! Take the weariness to Him and let Him show you how to handle it, day by day. Our world isn’t looking very good right now, but let us not forget: This is my Father’s world. And, He is still in control, not man. “Lord, help us to live in this chaotic world under Your protection and direction…one day at a time.”
